How to repair the capacity drop of lead-acid battery?

The internal resistance of the acid battery is composed of the plate resistance, the electrolyte resistance and the resistance of the connecting part of the plate. When the battery is charged, the density of the electrolysis changes, and the effective material on the plate changes, so the internal resistance of the battery also changes. The internal resistance of the battery is the smallest after charging, and the internal resistance increases when discharging.

 

Charging and discharging principle: The two sets of plates of the lead-acid battery are inserted into the dilute sulfuric acid solution to undergo chemical changes to generate voltage. When direct current is applied (charging), the lead oxide on the positive plate becomes brown lead dioxide (PbO2), and the lead oxide on the negative plate becomes gray velvet lead (Pb, also called sponge-like lead). When the lead-acid battery is discharged, the active substances on the positive and negative plates absorb sulfuric acid and undergo a chemical change, gradually turning into lead sulfate (PbSO4). When the active substances on the positive and negative plates become the same lead sulfate, The voltage of the battery drops to the point where it can no longer be discharged. Now need to charge the accumulator to make it return to the original lead dioxide and velvet lead, so that the accumulator can continue to discharge again.

 

There is another method, which is to add repair fluid to the inside of the lead-acid battery. The repair fluid is also called a battery expander. This liquid has many chemical substances that can be converted into electrical energy by the battery, thereby stimulating the battery to recover to about 90%. , Note that this effect can only increase the life of electric vehicle batteries by one year, and has no effect on batteries that are too severely damaged. Please consider carefully.

 

Of course, there is another method, which is to use a high-voltage charger to charge once, because the reason why the capacity of the battery decreases is due to the long life or improper use that leads to the intensive crystallization of lead sulfate, so the use of a high-voltage charger can be used. Temporarily eliminate this substance, but because this crystal has been attached to the electrode plate for a long time, the elimination of large voltage will also cause the electrode plate to soften or even be damaged, unless the battery is close to being scrapped, so few people will use this method.
