In the communication power supply system, the storage battery has become a necessary component. According to classification, fuel cells are used less due to the maturity of their technology. Alkaline batteries are rarely used in communication power systems due to their low cell voltage (electromotive force), because batteries used in communication equipment often require higher voltage and larger capacity. Due to its mature technology and low price, lead-acid batteries have been widely used in communication power systems. At present, almost all of them are valve-regulated sealed lead-acid batteries (VRLA). Due to its high specific energy characteristics, lead-acid batteries are currently mainly used in mobile communication terminals in communication power systems. With the reduction of manufacturing costs, they are gradually being used as backup power sources for communication stations (also known as backup batteries).


In the communication power supply system, the power supply system that supplies power to the communication equipment in the computer room is called the basic power supply, which is divided into DC basic power supply and AC basic power supply. Lead-acid batteries are used in both DC basic power supply and AC basic power supply, mainly as energy storage devices, not as the main power supply for communication equipment. Lead-acid batteries are often used to improve the reliability of communication power supply systems And as a backup power supply.


In the communication DC basic power supply system, the mains AC power supply that provides electric energy to the communication equipment, the AC power is converted into DC to supply power to the communication equipment after rectification, and the battery is connected to the output terminal of the rectifier in parallel. When the main AC power supply is normally powered, the storage battery is always in the online standby state, and at the same time, it is always in floating charge to maintain sufficient electric energy. Once the main AC power supply is cut off, the battery will automatically start to take over the task of providing electric energy for the load; after the main AC power supply is restored, it will immediately exit and be in the state of recuperating. At the same time, during the floating charging process, the battery also plays a very good role in filtering the output DC voltage of the rectifier.


In the communication AC basic power supply system, the battery is mainly used in the AC uninterruptible power supply system (UPS), and it is connected to the rectification output end of the UPS, that is, the input end of the inverter. Similarly, its main power supply is the mains AC power supply. When the mains power supply is cut off, the rectification of the UPS has no DC output, and the battery starts to automatically supply power to the inverter to ensure the AC output of the UPS.


In view of this, the use of lead-acid batteries in the communication power supply system has played a great role in the high reliability power supply of the communication power supply system.


Since the rated DC voltage used by communication equipment is much higher than the nominal voltage of a single product battery, there is almost no single use of a single battery in the power system of a communication bureau , and the use of a single battery is often based on its rated voltage. A single battery with a nominal voltage of 2V or 6V or 12V is used in series to form a battery pack to achieve the power supply voltage required by communication equipment (such as -48V, 240V or 336V, etc.; 192V~242V in UPS; etc.). Usually the battery pack is at least 1+1 dual backup configuration.
