Valve-Regulated Lead-Acid (VRLA) battery, commonly referred to as a Sealed Lead-Acid (SLA) battery or Seal Maintenance-Free (SMF) battery, is a kind of lead-acid battery characterized by the absorption of a limited volume of electrolyte ("lack of" electrolyte) in the battery separators or the formation of a gel electrolyte so that oxygen recombination internal the battery cells is facilitated; and there is a safety valve that keeps the cells in functional.
GEM Battery has two main types of VRLA batteries, absorbent glass mats (AGM) and gel batteries (gel batteries). Gel battery is adopted with silica SiO2 to the electrolyte, forming a thick, putty-like gel. AGM (Absorptive Glass Mat) batteries have a fiberglass mesh between the plates to hold the electrolyte and separate the plates. Both types of AGM and GEL batteries have advantages and disadvantages compared to submerged vented lead acid (VLA) batteries of each other.
GEM Battery gel batteries and AGM types can be installed in any positioning (both vertically or horizontally) and require no frequent maintenance. Widely used in large portable electrical equipment, off-grid power systems and similar roles, they can be stored in large quantities at a lower cost than other low-maintenance technologies such as lithium-ion batteries.
GEM Battery GS, GM, GF, GL and some GDC series are AGM batteries.
GEM Battery GzS, GzV, GPG and some GDC series are Gel batteries.
